Back on the Skype!
Megatron here talkin about entrepreneurs in relationships.
FAIR WARNING: this shit is looong, (~50 mins) but hey I don’t half-ass anything yo! And it’s FREAKIN’ worth it!
So you’re gonna get the real deal, ’cause that’s what this show is about. If you’re just starting out in a working relationship in the same field listen/ watch this interview, it’s good for you–just like your vitamins.
Today we’re talking to Georgia and Michael from Onyx Cinema an entrepreneur couple working together in the wedding photography/ videography business.
I consider these guys really good friends and I’m so grateful to have them on to talk about relationships for you. Here are some of my notes from the interview:
Communication: HOW you say things REALLY MATTERS.
- Your facial expressions
- Your body language
- How quick or thorough you are with your responses
- Your tone of voice
- Really trusting your partner because you do actually trust your partner to do their job
- delegating so you or your partner don’t feel ALL the pressure of the work, sometimes helps.
Give your relationship time:
- Having the same fight 1-3 times is not a total bad sign, giving yourself time to change and make room for your partner shows perseverance and giving your relationship the time it needs to make positive strides in finding a good balance
Establish what your GAME MODE is and how you both operate in that mode. With that established, both of you have a buffer to any emotional distress during work and you can keep it professional and efficient.
Schedule a routine date night! Keep it simple, keep it genuine, and fun!
And damn it, if you respect and love your partner, then TELL THEM. What do guys say all the time? “I can’t read your mind” well we can’t either foo! So tell me! lol Tell your partner you love and respect them and that your appreciate the work and the time and the strife they put forth when you work together. That’s a beautiful cycle. Kevin does this with me all the time, I love hearing it and it motivates and makes me feel appreciated.
Are you an entrepreneur working with your spouse? What do you guys do? I’m curious, leave a comment and tell me how you keep your working relationship on track.
